The District Grand Council of Durham was held at Gateshead Masonic Hall on Saturday 7th September 2019.
The District Grand Master Michael Graham welcomed the large contingent of visitors and members in attendance after which he continued with the meeting which included the dedication of the newly acquired Ark of the Covenant expertly given by the District Grand Chaplain, John Gibson and an appearance by the Provincial Grand Master of the Craft, John Arthur who gave a brief update of the 2021 Festival.
The District Grand Master appointed and invested his Officers for the ensuing year, including the re appointment of his Deputy, Tony Davis and his PCW Roger Layton.
In his address Michael thanked all of the outgoing District Officers for their support during the year especially the Recorder and Director of Ceremonies for all of their hard work especially for the planning and preparation of the District Meeting.
After the meeting 112 Companions were treat to a fine lunch where it was announced that £700.00 had been raised by the collection to give towards the Craft 2021 Festival. The toasts concluded the District Grand Master retired at about 2.30pm to allow the many visitors who had travelled large distances to commence their journey home.
A very successful meeting.
